Here
is another species that belongs to a group that you
wouldn't first suspect. It's The
Green Marvel (Agriopodes fallax) and
its affinity is to the Acronictinae subfamily of
Noctuids, a group that is genetrally characterized by
gray colored moths. This one is a bit more
colorful, I'd say. This was one of two individuals at
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge on June 9. There is only one
previous record from Jamaica Bay -- that from last year.
So the logical question is whether this is a new
colonization. If so, glad to have you aboard. |
