I
haven't been getting these MOWs out as frequently as I
should. There's always something going on. For one
thing, another BioBlitz. This one was on my home turf of
Jamaica Bay on September 7. With me at Floyd Bennet
Field and my helpers at the Wildlife Refuge, we tallied
about 100 species. One of the highlights was this Showy
Emerald (Dichordia iridaria),
only the second record for the bay. That
we should have so few records is curious to me, as one
of the host plants is the locally abundant Winged Sumac.
Well, maybe they just don't go to lights. |
