Before
we get to September and, hopefully, a slew of southern
strays for MOW, how about something common? And common
the Four-spotted
Fungus Moth (Metalectra
quadrisignata),
sure has been lately at Jamaica Bay. The same night,
August 15, brought an unusually bluish individual to a
baited tree, but the picture is not all that pleasing to
show. So here's this more typical one on a plain old
wall. (Is it a Five- spotted Fungus Moth if I count the
spot on the wall?) |
