Last
year I talked about the reopening of the Jamaica Bay
Visitor Center. Consequently, public moth programs are
once again possible. The first of these took place July
20. Despite dry and windy conditions, the night turned
out to be a success. The participants were treated to a
good number of moths on butterfly bush and, for the
first time since March, baiting was productive. The
black lights provided their share of moths, too,
including this first site record of Walnut
Caterpillar Moth (Datana
integerrima).
