The Mulberry Wing
Last year I talked about the reopening of the Jamaica Bay Visitor Center. Consequently, public moth programs are once again possible. The first of these took place July 20. Despite dry and windy conditions, the night turned out to be a success. The participants were treated to a good number of moths on butterfly bush and, for the first time since March, baiting was productive. The black lights provided their share of moths, too, including this first site record of Walnut Caterpillar Moth (Datana  integerrima).
