Can it be underwing time
already? No, at least not in the true sense. This is a False Underwing (Allotria elonymphya). This one made its appearance at a
building light at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation June 2
and was still present for this photograph on the morning
of June 3. This time frame happened to be the Bio-Blitz
event at the reservation. The weather was favorable for
moths and the still undetermined species count figures
to be in the 150-200 range. |
