Those of you who get into
moth taxonomy may have noticed that major revisions have
been proposed (accepted?) regarding the group that we've
long known as Noctuids. The largest offshoot is the
Erebidae, largely comprised of the deltoid subfamilies
and the Catocalinae. The latter contains revisions
within the group and groups that have been moved into
other subfamilies. But still there is the large genus
Zale. This one is a One-lined
Zale (Zale
unilineata). It was photgraphed at Muttontown
Preserve May 10. |
