This is only the fourth time
that I've come across the Two-lined
Hooktip (Drepana
bilinieata). For what it's worth, each one has come
in a different month. The first of those records
happened to be Jamaica Bay's first record, back on July
9, 2001. This one is the second site record -- another
one of the interesting records the I referred to found
on the walls of the Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center on
April 28. The species is one of only four members of its
family, Drepanidae, found in the Northeast. |
