The Mulberry Wing
Once again I depart from the norm of using moths whose ID I'm pretty sure of.  But of the recent crop of moths that I've encountered, this is the one that's stirred the greatest amount of interest for me. It appeared around a baited tree at Floyd Bennet Field October 9, although I can't say that it actually took to the bait. It looks like it best fits the Condicini group of Noctuids, but it doesn't quite match any of them to the point of comfort. Well, it'll be something to work on as the field season soon blends into desk work season.
