I had a couple of good
candidates for this week's MOW. Getting the nod is this
member of the Noctuinae, the Fleece-winged
Dart (Euxoa
velleripennis). I had never seen this
species until this one turned up for me at the James
Ramsay Hunt Sanctuary September 16. Then two nights
later, it became a new addition to the Jamaica Bay list,
turning up at Floyd Bennet Field. Funny how that
happens. |
