I can't remember the last time I
chose an MOW that I couldn't identify. I have to let you
think that I know my stuff. But I have a thing for
flower moths and I may not be running into this one
again anytime soon. It was a daytime find in Manorville
in the Long Island Pine Barrens (September 9), rather
than at my normal stomping grounds. No doubt, it's in
the genus Schinia. It's somewhat reminiscent of S.
spinosae, but I see differences. Late word - Schinia
expert Chuck Harp tells me that this is a Schinia
spinosae. |
