This choice is too easy. Also,
as busy as I've been in the field (day and night), this
is one of the few moths that stands out in my mind of
late. Not only was this individual the first of its kind
recorded at the James Ramsay Hunt Sanctuary, on July 8,
but another one on my Connecticut field trip reinforced
its claim to an MOW spot. This is, of course, a
Polyphemus Moth (Antheraea
polyphemus), one of the giant silkworm
moths (family Saturnidae). |
