Looking back at the MOWs for
this year, I only see Noctuids. Why's that? Well, there
are more of them than any other group. And coming up
with an ID is often more immediately possible than, say,
micros. The number 2 group in temperate North America
are the geometers. So get one that is new for a site
list and is easily identified and you have an MOW
winner. Shown here is a Four-spotted
Itame (Itame
coortaria), photographed June 22 at
Jamaica Bay's Floyd Bennet Field, in Kings co. |
