A public moth program, led by
Harry Zirlin, was held at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
June 17, and the moths did their part to make the night
a success. There were lots of good choices for MOW, and
that didn't end when everyone went home. My checking of
the light the following morning found this Black
Bit Moth (Celiptera
frustulum), a new Noctuid for me and one
of the weekend's several new additions to the Pound
Ridge list. The name? It comes from the bits of black
scattered about the forewing. |
