I made my first trip to the
mainland on the weekend of April 15-16, mainly for hawk
watching purposes. So, I was going to spend the night in
between at my survey sites, no matter what the
conditions. The result, surprisingly, was the best April
showing of Noctuids that I've seen in a few years,
despite an active northwest wind dropping dew points
through the 40s and into the 30s (but it was warm). This
one is a Chosen Sallow (Psaphida
electilis
atomaris) from the James Ramsay Hunt Sanctuary on
the morning of the 16th. |
