There was a theme to my September 13 outing at Floyd Bennet Field.
There were several moths that looked like something that
I should be familiar with, but didn't quite look right.
Different species or variation? The site now has several
records of Implicit Arches (Lacinipolia
implicata). Each one seems to look a little
different -- and this one even more so. Creeping into
the equation is the possible appearance of the similar
but more southerly Explicit Arches, which is not yet
known from New York. |
