Every
now and then, I go in a different direction with MOW and
choose something common or of lesser interest or
desirable to a moth watcher. But surely, the Gypsy
Moth
(Lymantria
dispar)
has been the moth of the last week, from the huge
numbers flying in the Long Island Pine Barrens on the
weekend to Floyd Bennet Field's first record July 21. In
addition, I got a better than average picture with this
individual, from Muttontown Preserve July 25, caught in
an infrequent spread wing posture. |
