I’ve
been through this drill before and I hope I get the
opportunity to do it again. Something like 99% of the
moths I see in the Noctuid subfamily Plusiinae are of
three species. So it is a special occasion when
something else works its way into the mix. The latest is
Syngrapha abstrusa (or Abstruse
Looper Moth
as Bob Patterson calls it), which turned up at Muttontown Preserve,
Nassau co. June 30. As a footnote, it's noticeably
smaller than the typical members of the group. |
