Here's
a no-brainer for MOW. It's colorful and a first record
for the Jamaica Bay survey. It's an Obtuse
Yellow (Stiriodes obtusa), of the
Noctuid subfamily Amphipyrinae. It showed up August 30
at my new hot spot building lights at Floyd Bennet Field
-- an assist that was badly needed. My black lights were
rather unproductive -- a trend that seems to have
manifested itself in various places in recent days,
perhaps due to the full moon. |
