It's
now the fun time of year at Floyd Bennet Field. It would
seem to be a great place for strays and there's no
telling what moth will show up next, although I
often can't be sure if it's a stray or a chance first
encounter with an uncommon breeder. Anyway, this Yellow
Scallop Moth (Anomis erosa), of the
Noctuid subfamily Catocalinae, was a first for the
Jamaica Bay survey. It was found during the day August
14 at my new hot spot set of building lights. |
