The Mulberry Wing
Some warmer weather returned, but the moth scene didn't seem to recover too well. Yes it's October, but that is the time for cucus (my new pet name for the Cuculliinae group of Noctuids). Only in Westchester did I encounter them, mostly in the form of the common Bicolored and Morrison's Sallows. The only other one pulled out was this relative of the Mustard Sallow, Pyreferra citromba, at the James Ramsay Hunt Sanctuary October 12. With more cool weather on the way, I think this will be it for MOWs this year.
