Some
warmer weather returned, but the moth scene didn't seem
to recover too well. Yes it's October, but that is the
time for cucus (my new pet name for the Cuculliinae
group of Noctuids). Only in Westchester did I encounter
them, mostly in the form of the common Bicolored and
Morrison's Sallows. The only other one pulled out was
this relative of the Mustard Sallow, Pyreferra
citromba,
at the James Ramsay Hunt Sanctuary October 12. With more
cool weather on the way, I think this will be it for
MOWs this year. |
