Changing
pace from state rarities and site firsts, here’s one
to represent the common moths of Floyd Bennet Field, as
well as the now peaking dart group of Noctuids
(subfamily Noctuinae). It’s a Dingy Cutworm Moth
(Feltia jaculifera). Like many species of
moths, the name comes from the caterpillar. End result
– a rather unflattering name for a rather attractive
moth. This picture was taken September 25. |
