The Mulberry Wing
I often put my emerald pictures aside for a while, not wanting to deal with separating the many similar looking species. But when I looked at this one, I knew it wasn't one of the normal ones from around here. It appears to be something along the lines of a Southern Emerald (Synchlora frondaria). If so, it could be yet another new species for New York State. It was pulled in by a black light at Floyd Bennet Field, Kings co. September 20.
