I
often put my emerald pictures aside for a while, not
wanting to deal with separating the many similar looking
species. But when I looked at this one, I knew it wasn't
one of the normal ones from around here. It appears to
be something along the lines of a Southern
Emerald (Synchlora frondaria).
If so, it could be yet another new species for New York
State. It was pulled in by a black light at Floyd Bennet Field,
Kings co. September 20. |
