The Mulberry Wing
Another group that reaches its peak in September is the Noctuid subfamily Plusiinae. For the most part, that means lots of Common, Soybean, and Celery Looper Moths. But there are a lot more of them in the book, and it's nice once in a while to get a reminder that they're possible. This one is a Cabbage Looper Moth (Trichoplusia ni). It was found at Floyd Bennet Field September 22, providing another new record for the Jamaica Bay survey.
