The Mulberry Wing
It's that time of year that moth lovers love -- underwing season. From the first night that I recorded any this year, June 30, here's a Bay Underwing (Catocala badia). This species had been a thorn in my side. With bayberry as its host plant, it should be common around Jamaica Bay. However, it took until this occasion at Floyd Bennet Field to come up with pictures of one.
