There
was a large brood of Common Looper Moths out recently.
My records show that the Soybean Looper Moth should be
flying in good numbers soon. These two species, which
are the most abundant of the Plusiinae, are often
confused. I spent some time recently trying to sort out
the ones that aren’t clearly one or the other. So it
was refreshing to come across something in this group
that was obviously different. This one is a Sharp-Stigma
Looper Moth (Agrapha
oxygramma) Moth from Muttontown Preserve
September 4. |
